CIISA’s publishes report on International Standards research

The Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority (CIISA) today published details of research carried out by international partner Clara Gallistl to explore how other countries embed safe and inclusive workplaces in their creative industries and what appetite there is for working together. The research comprised 42 interviews, mostly outside the UK, and established connections with 21 organisations committed to improving work environments in the creative industries. The report found that:

  1. The creative industries are globally connected, but there is no consistency in tackling harassment, bullying, and discrimination.
  2. There is no directly comparable body to CIISA internationally, making CIISA’s proposition unique and innovative.
  3. There is significant interest in creating an international network to support and develop safe working environments.
  4. Organisations expressed a strong desire for CIISA to lead in establishing an international community of practice.

CIISA’s Chief Executive Jen Smith said:

“Clara’s invaluable research not only highlighted the global connectivity of the creative industries, but that we all face the same challenges in keeping our talented workforce safe. We will act on these recommendations to create an international community of practice, which aligns with our ambition to innovate in this area and connect globally with like-minded initiatives to share best practice and drive consistency.”

CIISA’s efforts will help bring key initiatives together to discuss the global approach for supporting those working in the creative industries and promoting real change.
